Garage or yard sales involve selling used or old personal items, such as clothing, furniture, books, appliances, and similar belongings of the property owner or occupant. These items must not have been purchased or acquired for resale. Such sales are permitted only in residential zoning districts and must take place on the premises of the property owner or occupant whose items are being sold.
You may hold a garage or yard sale only twice per calendar year, limited to two weekends. A city permit is required for each weekend sale.
Sales may be advertised with signs that meet the following requirements:
The sign face must not exceed 2 feet in height, with a maximum area of 4 square feet (2’ x 2’).
Signs must be placed only on the property where the sale is being held.
Only one (1) sign per lot or one (1) sign per frontage on each right-of-way is allowed.
