We are pleased to announce that during the City of Durham Council Meeting on October 7, 2024, a proclamation recognizing Digital Inclusion Week was presented. This proclamation honors the efforts made towards enhancing digital access and promoting equity in technology within our community. These include activities that ensure individuals and communities have access to reliable broadband internet service, internet-enabled devices, digital literacy training, and technical support for self-sufficiency, civic participation, and engagement. The City of Durham continues to support digital inclusion efforts that drive digital equity, wherein all people who work, play, and worship in Durham have the information technology capacity necessary to achieve their health and wellness, as well as educational and economic goals.
The City of Durham Councilman, Nate Baker, presented the proclamation to representatives from the City, Frederick Ravin the Chief Data Officer, Patrice Carroll the Acting Digital Inclusion & Community Engagement Manager, and Board Member, Marcella Engmann of the Digital Durham Collaborative, acknowledging their hard work and commitment to ensuring that all residents have the opportunity to thrive in the digital age.
We invite everyone to join us in celebrating and acknowledging Digital Inclusion Week as we strive for a more inclusive digital future for all Durham residents. Your support in this initiative helps to bridge the digital divide and empower our community.
