 Announcement by Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism

This page is updated frequently and will indicate changes in availability to the general public at the City of Chesapeake's parks and recreational facilities, including community centers and specialty facilities. Examples of such changes could be due to major renovations or repairs, City major events or other large-scale activities or programs, large rentals, etc.

These changes could affect parking, traffic, and/or other amenities. See the following information for specific listings. Parks will be open to the public during these events/programs unless otherwise specified on this page.

ParksChesapeake City Park

• April 26 and 27 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Chesapeake Art Festival 
• May 15 - 18, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. - Chesapeake Jubliee.
• June 14, 2025 from 8:00 to 6:00 p.m. - Chesapeake City Park, Section A and C. - Battle of the Burgers.

Dismal Swamp Canal Trail

• April 26, 2025 from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. and April 27, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. - Tidewater Striders Spring Running Festival.
• May 4, 2025 from 10:00 am to 5:00 p.m. - Chesapeake Bike Fest at the North Trail Head. 
• May 3, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Paddle for the Border at the Ballahack Boat Ramp.
• May 17, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Anchor Scholarship Foundations 5K.
• May 24, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.- Above the Clouds 5k.
• September 20, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to Noon - Rock the Beach Run/ Walk.

Judge Eileen Olds Courtyard Park

• May 7, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - 2025 Wellness Fair.
• May 13, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Peace Officers Memorial Service.

FacilitiesDeep Creek Tennis Courts

• Temporarily closed for resurfacing.  Projected timeframe for reopening is Spring 2025.
