Bike Month | Chesapeake, VA

Family, friends, and neighbors are cordially invited to come and celebrate Bike Month with the Chesapeake Bicycle/Trails Advisory Committee and Chesapeake Parks, Recreation and Tourism. 

Bring your bike and enjoy over 8 miles of paved trails and great family-friendly bike activities. Parking and restrooms are available. Food trucks and giveaways available while supplies last.

Historical Bike Ride

Historical Ride on Dismal Swamp Canal Trail

Date: May 10, Noon - 2:00 p.m.

Join us for a new family-friendly program where we explore local history on a bike!  May is National Bike Month and National Historic Preservation Month.  We are excited to celebrate these activities together with a 4-mile bike ride on the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail.  We will visit local landmarks to discuss the history and architecture that is unique to Chesapeake.  The ride will depart from the Ballahack Boat Ramp at Noon.  We will stop to discuss the Superintendent's House, visit the Cornland School, and then proceed to Douglas Road.  

We encourage participants to bring their own bikes and personal safety equipment. This program is limited to 25 participants and registration is required. Limited number of bikes are available to rent. If interested in renting PRT equipment, please call 757 382-1360.

Join the Chesapeake Bicycle /Trail Advisory Committee for the Chesapeake Ride of Silence, an 8.5-mile ride to honor those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.  Participants will meet at Chesapeake City Park, Section C - Shelter 11 at 6:30 p.m. The ride will begin at 7:00 p.m. We encourage participants to bring their own bikes and personal safety equipment.  For more information about the Ride of Silence, please visit RideofSilence.org.
